Terms of engagement

Acceptance

An instruction is accepted when we confirm it in writing, naming the project, the engagement type, the fee, and the reporting date. Sending documents does not by itself create an appointment.

Our work

We prepare packs and notes from the documents, photographs, and access you provide. We do not act as planner of record, quantity surveyor, contract administrator, or expert witness unless a separate appointment says so.

Your materials

You warrant that you have the right to share programmes, cost reports, and photographs with us. You remain responsible for the accuracy of source documents. We will mark gaps rather than invent figures.

Intellectual property

You own the issued pack for use on the named project, including filing it with the employer and the professional team. We retain the working methods, templates, and unused drafts. You may not resell a pack as a generic product or reuse it on another job without a further instruction.

Liability

Our liability for an engagement is limited to the fee paid for that engagement, except where the law of the United Kingdom does not allow a limit (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). We are not liable for decisions taken by others after reading a pack, including valuations, delay notices, or occupation dates.

Site attendance

Walkdowns follow the contractor’s induction and health and safety rules. We may refuse an area that is unsafe or unescorted. Time lost to a cancelled induction is treated under the refund and cancellation note.

Confidentiality

We keep project documents confidential and do not publish another client’s pack. Redacted excerpts are issued only with your written agreement.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the United Kingdom, and the courts of Scotland have jurisdiction, given our desk at 24 Friar Street, Clephanton, IV1 5TJ, United Kingdom.
